What the price actually is
US list price, billed monthly. QuillBot prices by region — an automated check from outside the US returned Thai baht — so what a reader pays depends on where they are. The free tier paraphrases with a word limit and is the comparison most students should be making.

Why this verdict, not the number
Rewriting a paragraph is among the cheapest useful things a language model does, which puts a wide gap between this price and the tokens behind it. The product's real position is distribution rather than capability: it is the tool a very large number of students already have open, with modes and a word counter arranged for coursework. That is worth something, and it is not the model. Regional pricing complicates the comparison further — what a reader pays depends on where they are, which the multiple shown here cannot express.
